In the 21st century, India is striving hard to compete with the developed nations and is on the edge of becoming a powerful nation. As we grow economically and politically, the world is paying more attention to us. Things that the country was doing in the dark and things that were getting ignored before will no longer be invisible to the world.

Inscribed at the base of the national emblem, this national motto of India makes every Indian proud. This motto was falsified this month when a company was exposed and huge a fraud was revealed. Although the company called itself “Satyam” or truth (in Sanskrit), company’s founder was anything but truthful. He basked in the glory of the company for many years and made millions of dollars. Today, the stock market, investors and employees suffer the consequences of the wrong doing of the top personnel. The world is a place where giants like Enron were not spared; a company like Satyam stands no chance.
On November 26th last year, the whole world condemned the Mumbai terror attacks and stood by the country. A month later, India was again on the news flash for a corporate fraud. I feel that this is a period in which global exposure will hurt and help the country equally. It is a period when the country’s system and foundation is getting cleansed; a period when things will change for good. It will hopefully be a period which will regain the sovereignty of the nation and reestablish the lost glory. I dream that at the end of this tunnel, India will not only bear the national emblem but will also practice the national motto.
Satyam logo says, “Satyam is what business demands” while I feel “Satyameva Jayate is what India needs”.
